Anthology Jobsharing: Opportunities and Challenges of Work

This anthology is the result of the first colloquium on job sharing organized by the PTO association in Fribourg (Switzerland) in May 2015 in collaboration with about 40 experts on new forms of labor market. The colloquium was able to arouse the interest of employees and employers, HR leaders and managers and trigger diverse discussions. More than 200 people participated.

Following this conference, a call for papers attracted thirty-four authors from five European countries to publish their research and thoughts on job sharing. The topics cover many facets of job and top sharing, taking into account experiences in Switzerland, Germany, the UK, France and Hungary. Several contributions refer to the potential of this model in the wake of the digital and collaborative economy. They also shed light on the potential impact of the model in terms of greater gender equity in the labor market.

Critical voices also analyze the dangers that increased flexibility can bring to the implementation of job sharing. In addition to empirical and theoretical analyses, studies are supplemented by experiences of job sharing couples. The book describes not only the dimension of job sharing for employees and employers, but also for society in general. An analysis of the job sharing generations rounds off the anthology.
